Aurora, Ill., Near Chicago, recently passed a law that not only limits the number of pets kept by residents, but also restricts the sounds made by animals outside.

Under the new rules, Aurorians can have no more than four “companion” or farm animals, up to two of the same species, in each house. according to WMAQ-TV.

It is reported that “accompanying animal” is defined as “dog, cat, ferry, rabbit, guinea pig or hamster.”

Animals are not allowed to “make too much noise” for more than 15 minutes in a row, from 7 am on the first day until 10 pm, more than 10 minutes from 10:01 pm on the next day until 6:59 pm, says the report.

Complaints can be substantiated by recordings or multiple witnesses.
