Creative ways to use eggshells

If you’ve paid a little extra for healthy food or even produced it yourself, you know how much you can use to the end. Many of my recipes rely on eggs as a healthy source of protein, but have you ever considered catching that egg yolk?

And I’m not just talking about putting them in a pile of fertilizer.

The Incredible, Edible… Egg shell powder?

Eggs are an incredibly small package. Versatile, rich in protein լի full of nutrients (especially if they are free). The eggs are high.

Here’s how to turn your egg shell into a high quality nutritional supplement.

  6. Store in an airtight container (like a wall) in a cool, dry cupboard.

Using egg yolk powder in food

Add about a teaspoon of egg yolk powder daily to your diet for 400-500 mg of available calcium. You may notice a slightly spicy quality when added to some foods. When cooking, you can also fill it with crushed egg shells with vegetables and bones bone broth. A small spray of vinegar helps to better break down the nutrients in the ingredients.

Eggshell in the garden

Don’t want to eat your eggshell? Calcium is equally important for the park! Lack of calcium causes slow growth of the soil և diseases such as rot at the end of the flower (when tomatoes, pumpkins or peppers rot at one end). Here’s how to use ground egg shells in the garden.

  • Land change – The key to using eggshells in the garden is to give them time. Plants get calcium through their roots. You will want to dig the eggshell powder into the soil in the fall or early spring to dissolve them. Make sure the powder is crushed (in small pieces) or it will not work.

Of the many DIY uses for egg yolk powder, here are some that I have tried.

  • Face – Mix 2 tablespoons of finely ground egg yolk with egg white. Gently apply the paste as a natural face mask, leaving it to dry for 10-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water in a circular motion to exfoliate. After this treatment I really notice firmer, smoother skin.
  • Homemade toothpaste – Use egg yolk powder instead of calcium powder in my DIY Recovery toothpaste recipe. It will “whiten” and “reminalize”. It also works as a calcium powder replacement for any of my homemade toothpaste or tooth powder recipes.

Egg yolks are also a good source of calcium for our dog friends. In addition, you can sprinkle finely ground egg shell powder on their dog food. Just like us, although dogs need a balance of nutrients, so it is better not to overdo it. Some pet experts recommend that dogs be fed boiled eggs that have been cut into pieces.
