Jacksonville, Florida (CW44 News At 10 | CNN) – Former Jacksonville Jaguars striker Josh Lambo has sued the NFL team over allegations that former Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer created a “hostile work environment”.
In a lawsuit filed in Florida’s Duval County Fourth District Court on Tuesday, Lambo claimed that Meyer “kicked his leg during an internship in August and used profanity to insult him.” [him] : warn her to hit her. In particular, [Meyer] as if shouting [Lambo]”Hey Dips ** t, do your f ** k kicks.”
Lambo responded to Meyer, according to the request, telling the coach: [Meyer] answered. “I am the head coach of the ball, I will hit you whenever I want, whenever I want.”
In December, according to the Tampa Bay Times, Meyer denied that Lambo’s statement was true.
“Josh’s description of this incident is completely wrong, there are eyewitnesses who deny his story,” Meyer told the newspaper. “(General Manager) Trent (Baalken) և I have met with him several times to encourage his speech, և it has never been said. “I fully supported Josh when he was on the team. I do not wish him anything good.”
The lawsuit alleges that Lambo informed the Jaguars about the incident through his agent Richard Irwin, but the team “did not start an investigation” and “interfered in the close working conditions of the two”.
The lawsuit alleges that Meyer “initiated an example of harassment, creating a hostile work environment.” The former coach threatened to cut Lambo, the lawsuit said, “if he ever objected to his behavior or challenged his reputation again.”
The complaint alleges that Meyer continued to verbally harass the kicker, using “intimidation tactics to divert attention.” [him] while he was training blows. ” Lambo was “stressed” by the coach’s “response”, which affected him [Lambo’s] “Ability to sleep, train, and do his job, as in previous seasons under the guidance of various coaches,” the complaint states.
CNN turned to Meyer և Jaguars for comment.
Jacksonville cut Lambo in October after the striker missed all three of his three attempts in the first three weeks of the 2021 season. The lawsuit alleges that his goals “did not cause any loss to the Jaguars”.
According to the lawsuit, Lambo’s release allegedly violates Florida law on private sector whistleblowers “for assault, battery, and workplace violence in the interests of the employer.”
Following his dismissal, the lawsuit alleges that Lambo “suffered professional repercussions, including lost wages, benefits, and other remuneration, as well as extreme emotional distress from the Jaguars’ harassment, hostile work environment, and revenge.”
Lambo is seeking “refunds”. According to Spotrac, Lambo’s salary in the 2021 season was $ 3.5 million.
The Jaguars fired Meyer in December after just 13 games (2-11) in his first NFL coaching season.
At the time of his dismissal, the owner of the team, Shad Kahn, said in his announcement. “A thorough analysis of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to conclude that immediate change is imperative for everyone. I informed Urban about the change this evening. As I announced in October, restoring our trust and respect was essential. “Unfortunately, that did not happen.”
