Tesla is recalling almost 130,000 cars due to overheating of the infotainment system

(CW44 News At 10 | CNN) – Tesla recalled 129,960 vehicles this month to fix infotainment systems that may overheat before fast charging.

Tesla says it fixes the bug with an aerial software update that wirelessly updates software, such as a smartphone app update, which makes the recall less burdensome for Tesla և affected owners. Tesla owners will not have to take their cars to a service station.

Tesla has recalled seven 2022 Model 3s and six 2022 Model Y this year, all of which have been addressed with aerial software updates. Cars, especially electric cars, are becoming more and more reliant on computers, so software fixes are likely to become more common. Corrections can also be much less costly than purchasing and installing physical parts, such as new airbags or engine components.

This month’s recall includes the Tesla Model 3s և Model Ys 2022, as well as the Model Ss և Model Xs 2021 և 2022, which run on certain versions of the Tesla operating system. In this Teslas infotainment system, the computer chip may not freeze enough, leading to slow processing or restarting. The infotainment system may lag behind or appear empty. Tesla owners rely on the infotainment system for a variety of functions, including navigation, music, heat, air conditioning, windshield wiper speed, and spare camera viewing.

Tesla reports that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has submitted 59 warranty claims and reports. It initially fixed the problem in some cars this January by replacing the computer chip in damaged infotainment systems. In April, it developed a software update to address this issue.

Tesla said it was not aware of any accidents, injuries or deaths related to the condition.

One traditional recall, when injured owners have to bring a car into service, can be financially debilitating for the automaker, who has to pay for parts աշխատանքի at the end of the repair. General Motors spent $ 4.1 billion in 2015 on recall issues such as faulty burners.

Withdrawal completion rates for software updates are much higher than traditional recalls, which is a security advantage. Experts say the downside of on-air updates is that they can encourage automakers to release features that are not adequately tested and can be rough-edged.

Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.
