He said that there were other prisoners on the bus, but they remained in their prisons, և no one escaped, he said.

Officials do not know how Lopez was able to break through his barricades or find himself in a cage-like area where the driver was, Hirst said.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911, urging him not to approach him or trying to arrest him, officials said. Farmers in the area have been told to report any suspects. Lopez was last seen on foot in a white prison uniform, Hurst said.

Lopez was being held at Gatesville Prison while the bus was leaving for Huntsville, Hurst said. Lopez was being transferred because he had received a medical appointment, he said.
